Tonight, we will hear stories of people who are directly affected by the impacts of coal mining – very close to us in the Rhineland or on the Pacific islands. Residents from the mining area in the Rhineland area talk about living on the edge of a mine, forced evictions and harrowing negotiations with the utility RWE. The Pacific Climate Warriors demand an end of the age of fossil fuels – for them, the 1.5 degree target is a matter of survival. They will talk about how extreme weather events and rising sea levels impact their lifes and cultures – even today. – On this night, there will be space for personal stories, pictures and mutual exchange.
