PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, UNITE!!
In Thursday, the 9th of November at 13:00 (CET), artists Sonja Hornung and Richard Pettifer will jump into the Rhine, flowing just metres away from the COP 23 UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany.
Together, we will attempt to flood the site of COP 23, located an unprotected 1.53 metres above sea level.
Just 40km away from the conference, Germany’s biggest open-cut brown coal mine is set to expand further into Hambach forest. Climate justice is being watered down, and we will not take it any longer!
We invite you to join us in jumping into the Rhine or your nearest body of water. We will flood the COP and send a message to world leaders, who are failing to represent our earthly needs for food, water and a place to live.
** please take care while jumping in Rhine **
In 1998, provocateur Christoph Schlingensief jumps into Wolfgangsee. The intention: to flood the summer residence of German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
In 1969, hero artist Mierle Laderman Ukeles threatens to load a container of dirty Hudson water into the museum — and clean up.
In 1964, Fluxus maverick Ben Vautier walks into the sea in Nice carrying an umbrella.
NOW, IT’S OUR TURN!
