„We warn our communities ahead of severe storms and heat waves. And we also give practical recommendations, for example which seeds to plant and which pesticides to use.” This is Vietnamese farmer Quang Thi Kien talking – one of twelve climate heroines from all over the world selected for a very special exhibition.
CARE International supports people like Quang Thi Kien around the world in their daily struggle against the consequences of climate change and for the preservation of their homes.
In cooperation with the renowned laif agency, our climate heroines were portrayed at worldwide locations where communities adapt to climate change – whether it is with support from CARE
or in other contexts. The projects range from disaster protection, agriculture and water supply to political lobbying and demonstrations for climate protection.
In order to point out the global importance of this topic, protagonists and projects were sought and found all over the world. Photos, interviews and a few small video clips were taken in
Germany // Fiji // India // Madagascar // Niger // Philippines // Peru // USA // Vietnam and West Bank.
Additionally, two prominent protagonists could be found for the exhibition project: Christiana Figueres (former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change, UNFCCC) and Patricia Espinosa Cantellano (current Executive Secretary of UNFCCC).
